Ann Moey of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, on the Transformative Future of Philanthropy

Tony Blair may be out of politics, but he's not done with philanthropy.

The former British prime minister is the executive chairman of the Tony Blair Institute, a think tank that aims to use technology to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges, including climate change and poverty, Business Insider reports.

In a wide-ranging interview with the magazine, Blair says that while some of the world's richest philanthropists are putting their money where their mouth is, "the best philanthropy introduces systemic change that's sustainable over time, even when the philanthropic dollars stop."

To that end, Blair says, some of the world's richest philanthropists are putting their money where their mouth is to create solutions that will affect the well-being of people worldwide, not just within their own countries.

"What we do is slightly different, as we're working at the highest levels of government," Blair says.

"The impact, while not immediately seen, will be felt by citizens on the ground, who benefit from good governance and policies.

The outcome at the end of the day is long-term transformational change."

For example, the Digital Health Transformation Strategy in Indonesia has already brought about benefits, says Blair.
