One of the world's largest shopping malls is turning rainwater into safe drinking water in the Philippines.
SM Supermalls' Rainwater Project by SM Cares took home a Bronze Award for Care for the Environment at the 2024 Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards, Mashable reports.
The award " acknowledges SM's leadership in sustainability as the project transforms rainwater into safe drinking water, promoting water conservation and environmental stewardship," according to a press release.
The project, which began in 2012, is a collaboration between SM Prime Holdings, the mall's holding company, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
